How to Overcome Overwhelm and Frustration as a Mom.
When we think of overcoming something like overwhelm and frustration in motherhood, it can sound very intimidating. Like, where do we start? There are so many voices on the internet to show ways to deal with our emotions, our negative emotions, and it can be hard to navigate which is the right voice. First, let me just say that the only voice we should be listening to is God’s voice. He speaks to us in so many different ways. As in a previous post about practical applications with dealing with frustration, I mentioned that one of those ways was to read scripture.

Scripture to Overcome Overwhelm and Frustration as a Mom.
When we read scripture, we are reading and soaking in the living word of God. Hebrews 4:12 states, “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” Alive. Active. Let that sink in. When we go through this life and face challenges we must be armed with the word of God. And not just memorizing it but believing it. We can not be wavering and double minded in our faith.
So when you are up against a bad day, your kids are going crazy, you’re stuck in the house for days on end because of bad weather. Stay at home moms, I’m looking at you, because I am in that season now. It can be so tough! The days can get really long and mundane and you feel like you have no purpose. Let me tell you, the devil is a LIE! You have got to learn to take your thoughts captive. AMEN!? When the enemy comes around trying to drag you down, you speak the word of God, and out loud! Out loud so the enemy hears you, so that your children hear you! There is nothing like a praying, prophesying mama in the house!

5 Scriptures to Read and Pray
So now that you know how important the word of God is in the life of a born again Christ follower, let’s implement that in our daily lives when we come up against difficulty. Jesus did not promise us an easy life. He said we would have trouble but that we would overcome because He overcame. In the book of Luke, he says we would have authority over the enemy. I’ll be sharing the full verse below as one to write down or bookmark in your bible. When you read these, think about the Victory that Jesus has already won! Use these to pray over yourself and your family as well.
# 1 For Authority
Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Luke 10:19
#2 Your Identity in Crist
I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. Galatians 2:20
#3 Peace
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
#4 Fear
Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27
#5 Mindset
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Relationship is key to overcoming.
Overcoming anything in this life can be challenging, but by walking with the Lord and spending time with Him and in His word will produce results. I am a living testimony to this. You must unlearn to learn. Religion has kept so many of God’s people in bondage over things they should be free from. It is time to rise up, walk in authority, hand in hand with the living God. We are to walk by faith not by sight. Faith is the connection to to all things with God. In Hebrews, Paul writes that faith is the only thing needed to establish the unseen in your mind. (Hebrews 11) So if you are convinced that your situation of overwhelm will never change, well, then it won’t. If you walk by faith and seek the Lord with all your heart, He will open doors to wisdom that can only come from Him.
I hope this has encouraged you and ignited a fire to pursue God like you never have before. You can check out other similar posts here to encourage you in your walk as a mother with the Lord. With Him, all things are possible!
