How to Find Time for Prayer as a Busy Mom.

As busy moms, we all know how hard it can be to find enough quiet time for prayer. Especially if you are a stay at home mom in the season of infants and toddlers.

Even when your babies are napping in the other room it can be hard to turn off your brain. “Will they wake up soon, was that a noise?” This leads to a distraction in your own mind and thoughts that completely derail your moment in prayer with God. Been there, done that.

If you struggle with finding time with the Lord, free from distractions and noise, these few tips will help you!

how to find time for prayer as a busy mom

First, I want you to look at prayer as an ongoing conversation. Prayer is not a checklist to be completed in a day.

“Don’t be pulled in different directions or worried about a thing. Be saturated in prayer throughout each day, offering your faith-filled requests before God with overflowing gratitude. Tell him every detail of your life,”

Philippians 4:6 TPT

Prayer is an intimate time with our creator showing that we are relying on Him and not ourselves.

Romans 10:11 says when we believe in our Lord, we will not be disappointed.

We must rely, trust, seek, depend and cry out to our God at all times.

Our salvation comes from faith, not by works. So when you pray, enter His courts with thanksgiving and praise and pour out your heart.

Don’t overcomplicate prayer. Just pray.

Every morning you wake is a blessing! Express that thankfulness to God. He has a purpose to fulfill through you.

This can be simply humbling yourself in adoration of the Father as soon as you wake, letting Him know how grateful you are.

Also, take a minute to position yourself for a yielding heart for the new day. What does He want to accomplish?

Throughout your day, prayer doesn’t have to stop just because the kids are running wild and you’re being pulled in multiple directions.

Talk to God while you prepare meals, go on walks with your kids, have a few minute sections throughout the day when you can think about what you want to say.

God is with us in our everyday. He is accessible.

As moms, we can feel that to spend time with Him, it has to look a certain way, but the truth is, God meets you where you are.

What we do and how we present prayer will shape our children’s spiritual foundation.

We are to guide our children and live a life that represents Christ. So by praying with your children and inviting them into this space, you are showing what it means to have the fire of Jesus and Holy Spirit burning within you.

Never be afraid to be bold in front of your children.

If you do try this, and your kids wake up with you, don’t get discouraged. In a season of littles, waking up before them can be hard. Especially if you have an infant that sleeps in your room and is a light sleeper….ask me how I know, haha!

Waking up before the noise, is a great way to spend uninterrupted time with God, but if it becomes a struggle, it’s ok! Remember, He is with you, just speak to Him where you are.

Maybe try leaving the room, but if your baby or toddler won’t have it, just pray where you are. End the day with repentance and thankfulness.

You can also use a book light for prayer journaling before you go to bed for the night.

This is another time to squeeze in a quiet moment with God either while the kids are in bed or your husband or care giver is there to help.

Go ahead and run you a bath, because you’re a busy mom and need to relax, and while the tub is filling, get in time with the Lord!

In my home, our closet is in the bathroom so I will go in and shut the door and set a timer(so the water doesn’t overflow) and just have complete stillness before God.

When we prioritize time with Him we are building up our spirit man within. Not only that but we are bringing Heaven to earth in the things we pray for. It is our job as believers, a command.
