New Moms, Have more Peaceful days, Starting Now!
Becoming a new mom brings on a whole different list of responsibilities and schedules. Here are 3 practical ways you can have more peace in your days starting now!
One minute the only thing you have to take care of are the needs of you and maybe your spouse, the next, a tiny little human that can only communicate through cries.
If you haven’t been raised around babies you can become overwhelmed and frustrated which then leads to stress and burn out quick!
These 3 practical steps will help you, as a new mom, to fight back the overwhelm and begin your motherhood journey from a place of Peace.
And because I’m a busy mama too, I’ll make this short and sweet!

#1 Listen to Your Baby
With babies, comes lots of advice.
Sometimes it’s great and other times it is not.
The best thing you can do as a new mom, is listen to your God given instincts. If your baby cries and wants to feed again, feed them. If they want to be held, hold them.
The worst thing you can do is try to go against God’s design for mothers and their babies and take advice that will push the connection with your baby away from you.
This can be things like, ” They just ate, you don’t need to feed them again.” Baby cries, you then get overwhelmed even more.
Or, ” Don’t hold them too much or they will be spoiled.” Baby cries again, having a complete meltdown which brings you to more overwhelm and stress.
Babies want to be close to you, so DO NOT feel bad for holding them. Also, DO NOT feel bad for putting them down when you need to.
Babies, especially breastfed babies, eat A LOT. Ask me how I know. If your baby is acting hungry, offer a feed to see if it settles them or if not, get them ready for a nap.
Bottom line, you were incredibly made with the instincts to baby that baby. You got this!
Happy baby, happy mama!

#2 Let Things Go
With a new responsibility means figuring out a new schedule and letting some things go.
For stay at home moms, this means putting your baby first, letting the laundry pile up and the dishes to go unwashed at times. ( Utilize that dishwasher if you got one!)
Don’t hold a clean house over yourself.
Let the unimportant things go so you can focus on caring for your baby. Once you get a good rhythm then pick some things back up.
Baby first, house second = PEACE
You choosing to keep things the way you had them pre-baby could lead to overwhelm and stress.

#3 Turn off the Noise
My gosh the amount of information out there these days for new mothers. No wonder we can’t focus haha!
This goes back to listening to your baby and doing what’s best for you both. Yes, I have learned a few neat tips on social media at times but for the most part it is information overload. “Do this, oh wait, don’t do that!”
You have to be careful to not fall into a trap of comparison as a new mom. This will zap the joy right out of you!
So if you’re lacking peace, stay off social for a while to see if that helps. Listen to those close to you for any help you may need and your instincts.
Speaking of Social media, check this post out if you feel it’s distracting you from your motherhood. You’d be surprised at the studies!

New moms can have peaceful days
Going from taking care of yourself to you and a baby can be a little intimidating and a tad overwhelming at times.
I am not promising that you will never have hard days, as a parent, that is inevitable.
What I am saying is that if you listen to your baby and your instincts, let the unimportant things go and turn off the noise of the world, that your days will be a bit easier.
I say this because I have lived it myself…now with 4 kiddos..and a homeschool mom. The days can get pretty crazy ’round here but I wouldn’t trade it for the world!
Here’s to your new journey, motherhood, it’s a beautiful calling.
Embrace it mama! You got this and God has you.
